2023 Wrap Up

2023 Wrap Up

My first year back to fulltime painting since the fire started off slowly enough.  I had many projects going on without any real commitments or events scheduled.  Oil paintings, acrylics, pen and ink, watercolors all progressing simultaneously with easels and drafting tables crowding nearly my entire studio.  There was a lot of chaos until the calendar got sorted.

As the winter snows melted off, applications to the summer art fairs in Jackson were approved and now completing artwork became imperative.  At nearly the same moment, some of my work was accepted for the Art Shop Gallery in Moose.  Add in the weekly plein air painting excursions and things were getting busy.

The summer months were both productive and profitable.  The awards from the WAA and Lynn Thomas Memorial Art Show rebuilt confidence and standing, but the sales allowed for the replenishment of critical supplies and materials.  I was thankful for both!

From June to September, the summer was a blur.  Seemingly from the flip of a switch, I immediately had to rotate from summer painting to winter preparations.  Besides cutting firewood and stocking the pantry, there was inventory of art supplies and reordering of needed materials before winter hit.  Dealing with frozen paint is a deal breaker and trying to deliver anything large and bulky like frames or canvases on a snowmobile is virtually impossible.
